There are billions of blogs and that's liberating, but also intensely depressing. I revive Textual-Edits with a full awareness of the dreaded nothingness between a blog and the public.

Therefore I would like to call Textual-Edits a column, not a blog. A column implies readership, and inclusion in the interest of a larger publication, even if neither actually exist. A blog rides alone in an ocean of uncertainty, a column is pushed forward by a tide or current in the waterway of written events.

As a column, Textual-Edits has no dock or shore. But at least it is on a search for greater belonging with some publication of the future. For now it will simply be a "Column of the Internet".

Textual-edits is hereby revived as a lost lonely "column" in search of place.

a small conversation on faith and small things

I: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/02/080215151215.htm
????????????
(an article about people of faith rejecting nanotechnology on moral grounds)

C: yeah, they're going to have a lot of say over it too
but...
how does God feel about really really small things
i know he liked children
and stones in the field
and grains of sand
and mustard seeds

I: hahahah

C: but those were just small
what about really really small things
chapter, verse on that?

I: Yea, if thou hast faith even the size of a molecule, thou canst move very large hills, at least

C: Thou shalt not make or take unto thine own a thing smaller than can be seen with thine eyes

I: haha

C: well, here's the thing though they say at a certain size properties of matter begin to change, so maybe faith is one of those properties
at a certain level the failth value of a particle of matter can actually reverse and act as anti-faith

C: if thou has faith of a mustard seed, but no smaller than 3 microns, thou canst move small hills to mountains depending on the ratio of the size of faith you have in inverse proportion to the amount of landmass you wish to move

I: I see. That makes sense. So nanotechnology is a direct assault on morality, then?

C: yes, but only below a certain size level

I: No wonder they won't have it in Kansas!

C: at that threshhold faith begins to reverse, and you actually lose the ability to move earth, even with a shovel
huh? Kansas?

I: I just imagine Kansas as a state full of obese white Christians gnawing at their fingernails and jumping everytime grandpa's ol' clock bangs out the hours. Jesus is coming! Did I do anything wrong today? I did not embrace nanotech, my lord, take me to heaven with you!
Thankfully, there are no mountains to be moved in KS!
Actually, shovels may soon be outlawed, as well

C: hey now Kansas gave Obama his biggest win to date I believe. let's give them a 3 week pass at least

I: Ha, okay, fair enough. Obama and Huckabee, right?

C: Obama/Norris
